About

Welcome to the WPF.

The industry has never needed an active and strong union as much as it does now.
World Press Federation is the voice of journalists and journalism.
The WPF is an inclusive union and represents a broad range of media professionals.
We strive to improve the pay and conditions of our members and protect and promote media freedom, professionalism and ethical standards.
They are represented across the media – as staffers, casuals and freelances in broadcasting, newspapers, magazines, books, public relations, photographers and in new media.
Our members are linked to journalists and trade unionists throughout the world. Together we're stronger and we can make a difference.
The WPF rules state that "[t]he union shall consist of journalists, including photographers, creative artists working editorially in newspapers, magazines, books, broadcasting, public relations and information, and electronic media; as advertising and fashion photographers, advertising copywriters, editorial computer systems workers…"

The WPF represents journalists working in a broader variety of roles than those listed in the ONS category - our members also include photographers, producers, presenters, website managers, content providers, advertising copywriters, designers, social media officers, bloggers, podcasters, press officers, communications officers, photo and video journalists. Some of our members working in magazines, books, PR and communications don't call themselves journalists but they are still members of our union.
